Media events to promote the impact of project and the work of social workers with young people.
Background
The National Association of Social Workers (NASW) is implementing the project “Young people living in difficult situations and at risk of drop out from the secondary education system in the focus of local Social Welfare services” financed by the Italian Government and implemented by UNICEF in Albania. The project aims to develop a new model for social workers working in the targeted municipalities and in other service providers to engage with young people in difficult situations and help them cope with socio-economic challenges, having in consideration the best interests of the child” principle, gender equality and non-discrimination practices.
As part of the project, we have conducted an assessment to understand the needs and challenges faced by young people. The primary goal of this assessment is to identify the barriers and gaps that social care workers encounter in their efforts to support children and youth in vulnerable situations. It also aims to identify the capacity-building requirements of these professionals while taking into consideration gender-related issues.
Furthermore, within the project’s framework, training sessions have been conducted for social workers and professionals who work with at-risk youth in the following municipalities: Tirana, Durrës, Kamza, Elbasan, and Kruja. The participants in these training sessions comprised a diverse group of professionals and service providers, including those from social service organizations, employment offices, social workers specializing in economic aid, and psycho-social service providers in schools. These training sessions aimed to impart theoretical knowledge and introduce innovative approaches to working with at-risk youth.
The media events aim at writing media articles about the project and stories of social workers to promote the impact of project and the work of social workers with young people.
